CG 116: "Alea Iacta Est"

Calling Those Noble of Heart, Brave of Spirit, and Courageous Beyond all Others:

I, Metin, son of the great Pasha Ediz, and heir to the lands of Batidaki-kiyi, do hereby implore you to heed my call, and come immediately to my aid. Several months ago, under the cover of darkness, our palace was laid siege by a dragon, darker than night, who unleashed spells beyond description and horrors far beyond my ability to express. This dragon queen was soon joined by others, creatures of shadow and night, who slew my father and siblings, and demanded that the village play host to these monstrosities, or become further victims.

You were not my first choice, but circumstances being what they are, I cannot afford to waste more time. Cries to the neighboring pashas, and even the Sultan himself have fallen on deaf ears, and even desperate pleas to the kingdoms to the east and north were met with haughty disregard. No ruler wishes to get involved in what they perceive as "the squabbles and calumnies of the western sands", and for a time I believed we were doomed to this existence until the preparations of this dragon queen were concluded, and she headed to some other aerie.

A young woman, of mystical ability and wide travels, came to my current dwelling in the middle of the night some weeks past, talking animatedly about all things under Brinnig's gaze, but expressing concern as to the true intentions of the dragon, which according to this woman was actually a powerful sorceress.

Time grows short, the monsters grow more numerous, and I will gladly reward those who come to my aid directly from the coffers of my inheritance (such as it remains). I shall meet you in the Ebony Horse, a safe haven for wanderers and nobles alike.

Make haste,
Metin of Batidaki-kiyi
