CG - Dead Man's Party
Every year in late autumn, the village of Santa Carisa, nestled in the
foothills of the Ludian Mountains in western Iñarra, hosts a local holiday
and ecclesiastical oddity: The Night of Rattling Chains, a festival dedicated
to Tralados. Combining Brinmas with several local traditions, some of which
predate the Sturian Empire, this event memorializes the dearly departed and
protects the world of the living from the dead, who are thought to become
restless as the darkness of winter chills Hesket.
Celebrants and Traladosian pilgrims are drawn to Iñarra yearly for
this festival to pray for the dead, give offerings, and most of all, firmly
establish that they are alive in the best way possible: through wild revelry
and debauchery. As a result, this holiday is also popular among local
Kintakans, Dorialites, and Alians.
The Night of Rattling Chains is celebrated throughout western Iñarra,
the otherwise humble village of Santa Carisa is particularly notable at this
time of year, as it boasts a sizable temple to Tralados. The temple was founded
by the village's eponymous saint, and is home to a major relic of the faith.
In spite of the best efforts of Santa Carisa's clergy, the Night of Rattling
Chains is a night of mischief and mayhem, both magical and mundane. At a
festival in which the celebrants strive to be as lively as possible, it is
inevitable that a bit of chaos will be stirred up. But on a night such as this,
one can only hope that mortals alone cavort and carouse to the music of chains.
Continuing Game: "Dead Man's Party" is a Continuing Game tavern night that
