Depiction

Nen is portrayed as a tall, imposing figure with glowing eyes who is of neither gender. Though referred to as "it," Nen is a humanlike god, not at all cold or alien, to whom many of the gods turn for wisdom and fair, just advice. Nen serves as the judge of souls' behavior and determines their place in the afterlife. Though chief of the gods, It makes few decrees to the other deities, save to settle disputes between them. Nen arbitrates wielding its all-powerful judge's hammer or gavel.

Theology and Practice

Followers of Nen seek to promote justice and eliminate lawlessness and often serve as judges or arbiters. Law-Abiding or Law-Enforcing is virtually a given trait, and Honesty or Complete Honesty is also common.

Nennite clergy are often chaste out of deference to Nen's lack of gender. Many also take a vow of poverty to prevent corruption. Priests tend to dress androgynously, avoiding jewelry, long hair, or facial hair. Some orders (like the Codexers) take this one step further, avoiding gendered titles. Nennites seek to promote justice and eliminate lawlessness and often serve as judges or arbiters. If they bear a weapon, many carry a hammer.

When writing Nennite text, authors tend to avoid using pronouns (instead of using the somewhat clumsy "It"). Names such as "the Judge of All" of "the Chief of the Heavens" get used instead.

Religious Orders

There are several order (some each of monastic, military, and mendicant) dedicated to Nen. The military Codexers have a wide reputation for fairness and justice, and they also rule the island of Malema. The Silver Serpents are another military order.
